Bike Around the Bay Training Rides

Kathy Nielsen and I are doing Bike Around the Bay. We thought that since this is 170 miles that we should probably do some training for it so we are going to do a similar training series as the MS150 training. There will be at least a couple of differences:
1. This will be free training so you won't receive a super cool BCO jersey and you will be responsible for finding your own lodging for BATB
2. These are self-supported rides so you have to have your own hydration, food and equipment in case of flats or other mechanical failures. There is no SAG or support system whatsoever.
What Kathy and I plan on doing is having a ride every Sunday morning until BATB. Obviously during the warmer months, the rides will start earlier and as it starts to cool off somewhat, we will start them a little later. On the weeks that there is a ride such as Tour de Pink, etc.. those will serve as the training ride for that week. Let me know if you need a MS150 training schedule and I will be happy to send it out to you. For the first ride, we will meet at the Gazebo on the north side of Memorial, just west of Eldridge. Then, we’ll bike up to 24 miles on a paved path to Fry Road and back. We take a rest stop every 7-8 miles. Beginners are welcome. Any kind of bike is okay - road, hybrid, comfort, mountain, tandem, etc. Helmets are required. We will grab a bite to eat afterwards for those that are interested.
