BCM Wellness 5K Race/Fun Run

Join us for Baylor College of Medicine's 4th Annual BCM Wellness 5K Race/Walk!

The 5K is a charitable event aimed at promoting healthy living and wellness while raising money for community wellness initiatives. There will be wellness-promoting booths present during and after the race! There will also be a Kid’s 1K Fun Run with an 8:00 AM start time.  The 5K race is USATF certified! 5K registration fees vary by date, up to $35 on the day of the race.  Registration fees include an event T-shirt and access to other wellness promotions.  The 1K Kids Fun Run is free and the first 50 child registrants receive a free T-shirt!

Also, enjoy a post-race party with special activities and awards!

Friends of the Sargent Library Kayak Fun Run 2015

Came and join us a Kayak Fun Run down Caney Creek to benefit the Sargent Branch Library. Kayakers with any level of experience are welcome:  from go-getters to arm-chair paddlers. ***All kayakers will receive a free T-shirt and a free lunch! ***

Course – 6.3 Miles – From Caney Creek RV Park to Caney Creek Estates Boat Ramp #1.  PLEASE MAKE YOUR OWN TRANSPORTATION ARRANGEMENTS FOR VEHICLE PICKUP AND TO GET TO THE CRAB TRAP FROM BOAT RAMP #1.  NO SHUTTLE WILL BE PROVIDED. Required Equipment - Coast Guard type III Personal Flotation Device (PFD), worn at all times while paddling.  Recommended Equipment - Gloves and water shoes to protect your feet at the landing sites. Refreshments - We will provide bottled water for kayakers.  There will be cold beverages and specially priced lunches for purchase at the Crab Trap for all who do not kayak. Prizes & Good Stuff - Registered kayakers are eligible for the drawing of a brand new kayak and cash prizes. We will also have a raffle for a “Samsung 55” UHD TV”, $1,000 Cash and a Bose Bluetooth Speaker. To complete your day, there will be a silent, a live and a bucket auction.  Auctions and prize drawings will be done at the Crab Trap.

Texas Renaissance Festival

October 10th through November 29th

The Texas Renaissance is the nation's largest, most acclaimed Renaissance themed park. Each year, over 500,000 guests pass through the Festival's gates and enter the magic of New Market Village, an authentically recreated 55 acre 16th century English township located 50 miles northwest of Houston, Texas. Each year, for 8 fun-filled weekends in October and November.  Guests will be entertained by a marvelous assortment of unique performers: musicians, magicians, acrobats, jugglers, dancers with over 200 daily performances on over 20 stages throughout the village.  In addition, there are over 400 shoppes featuring some of the finest works of artists, artisans, and merchants as well as live demonstrations by craftspeople skilled in the arts of glass blowing, weaving, pottery making, blacksmithing and more.

Fatbike Sandy is a fatbike-specific race taking place on Sunday, October 11th in Sam Houston National Forest at the East Side Multi-Use Trailhead. This unique race, being held on a trail consisting mostly of sand, features two categories based on tire size and is also open to regular mountain bikes as well.

Bike Around the Bay is a fully supported two-day, 180-mile bicycle ride around Galveston Bay that showcases the natural beauty of Galveston Bay and benefits the Galveston Bay Foundation. Now in its ninth year, Bike Around the Bay began with the goal of bringing people together from all over to see and experience Galveston Bay.

At our 23rd annual TXU Energy Houston Turkey Trot, more than 20,000 supporters will come together to make a difference in our community. Proceeds from the TXU Energy Houston Turkey Trot benefit more than 160,000 seniors and children that we serve each year. Register in our Humana 5K, Phillips 66 10K, Kids or Wheelchair races. The Brazos Bend 100 Miler will aim to be the fastest race in Texas and the NATION with its mostly flat course, easy aid stations and wildlife to watch its the perfect set up for some PRs and some records to be set. 67% Finish Rate for the 100 mile in 2014. There will be a 30 HOUR CUTOFF FOR THE RACE. Gate will open at the Park at 3am, Shuttle buses will be running from 6a-Noon for runners at the 40 acre lake parking,nature center and Hale lake as well. 7pm-Midnight Elm Lake Pavillion HOLIDAY DINNER.. We will be serving a meal to all the REGISTERED RUNNERS of the race we will have a full meal with sides, breads, desserts etc we will have Vegetarian options as well for the meal. Texas Two-Step Award for those who complete the Brazos Bend 50 and Brazos Bend 100 in the same Year!! Costume Contest- We will award the 3 best holiday themed costumes an award/gift and you have to wear the costume at least one loop!!

The Chevron Houston Marathon and the Aramco Houston Half Marathon are sold out.  However, there are still two ways you can receive a guaranteed entry into the race through the Run for a Reason program.
