Here is an excerpt from the story of last year's trip:
The drive to Lago Atitlan provided clear views of the Guatemalan highlands with dramatic cloud formations literally pouring over the ridge that we drove the length of. We packed our kayaks for our week of adventures before heading out on the first length of our circumnavigation of the lake as the sun set. We stayed at the La Perdida Iguana "Lost Iguana" hostel in Santa Cruz, and enjoyed meeting people from all over the world there on the deck overlooking the lake that night. I read a summary book from cover to cover about the history of the villages surrounding the lake before blowing out the candle in our rustic jungle cabin.
