From September 27 to October 7 in theaters around the world, more than 100,000 film lovers in some 250 cities gather to view and vote on the finalists in the annual Manhattan Short Film Festival. Always a popular event at the Museum! Each screening features the same program.
MANHATTAN SHORT has announced the Final Nine selections for its 21st Annual Short Film Festival, taking place in over 350 venues across six continents between September 27th and October 7, 2018. MANHATTAN SHORT is the only event of its kind. The Final Nine are screened simultaneously across the world during a one-week period, with the Best Film and Best Actor awards determined by ballots cast by the audiences in each participating venue. By virtue of their selection by MANHATTAN SHORT, each short film is automatically Oscar-qualified.
The Nine MANHATTAN SHORT finalists hail from eight countries with films from Austria, Canada, Germany, Hungary, Kosovo, New Zealand, USA, and two films from the United Kingdom. These Final Nine short films represent the best short films among 1565 submissions from 73 countries received by MANHATTAN SHORT for 2018, testimony to the enduring vibrancy and creativity of short films.This year's Final Nine represent an extraordinary range of film genres that includes intimate dramas; fast-paced animation; spine-tingling tales; a World War II epic; a film shot entirely underwater and a comedy as part of the
