Memorial Park: The Whole Thing
A 6 mile hike from one end to the other

Let’s meet in the famous Rugby Fields parking lot, (see map below,) Sunday between 8:15 - 8:30 am for a 3 hour, 6 mile moderately strenuous hike. We’ll head to the east-most end of the park, then curve back on it’s woodsiest rails and along Buffalo Bayou. It’s Houston’s most “I can’t believe this is in Houston” venue. Some of the trail is through thick undergrowth, and there are a few hills in and amongst the creek ravines that feed into Buff Bayou, so this is more than a casual social hike. There is, however, a couple break-off points onto the Picnic Loop road for anyone wanting to bail early.
But it's a bit of an adventure if you haven't done it before, and it takes 3 hours to complete the whole enchilada. Water, snackage, energy blobs, electrolytes, and bug spray (if it’s been raining) are all good ideas. Some of us will be toting our packs and using this time for back pack conditioning, so feel free. It’s a hike, not a run.
May cancel if it’s pouring and/or too muddy, so check the even listing that morning.
