Cemetery Bike Ride
Join BCO on Sunday Oct. 27 for a bike ride to tour several cemeteries in Houston!

We will meet at 9:30 and start at 9:45 am and our first stop will be the Hollywood Cemetery on North Main. From there we will bike towards Glenwood Cemetery to see where Howard Hughes is buried.
Glenwood Cemetery is a private cemetery with strict rules on noise levels and behavior.
If there is an active funeral, we will not be allowed in. In addition we will be exceeding their normal limit of cyclist allowed however we have never been turned away so we hope to keep our lucky streak alive. We will need to be quite as we bike by the guard stand. We should be able to take pictures if we are not being followed by a security guard. We will also see some very famous tombstones at this location. From here we will bike towards the Amtrak station downtown for refreshments.
Next, we will proceed to Founders Cemetery on Dallas Avenue. The Founders Cemetery is the site of the original founders of Houston, the Allen Brothers. We will see tombstones over a hundred fifty years old.
Then we will cycle towards the Beth Israel cemetery and from there we will then proceed to one of the oldest black cemeteries in Houston on Dallas Avenue. From there we will bike back towards the Onion Creek Cafe and should be back around noon.
The total distance should be under 18 miles at a pace of around 10 miles per hour. We will not leave anyone behind. Hope you can make it. Those who desire can have lunch afterward at Tacos a Go Go.
