RAIN OR SHINE!

Orienteering is a sport using an accurate, detailed map and a compass to find points in the landscape.
A "Social-O" is similar to a scavenger hunt.
The Houston Orienteering Club will provide FREE detailed map of Hermann Park and the surrounding neighborhood, with points marked.

You will have a one hour (honor system!) time limit to locate those points on the map and answer questions about them (e.g. "What does the sign say?"; "How many steps are there..?"; "Who is the statue?"). A compass may be helpful, but is not necessary.
You will be your own time-keeper, so a watch with a stopwatch function would be helpful.
Walk or run - solo or group - fun or "competitive."
You can do any combination at the Houston Orienteering Club''s monthly Social-O.
WE MEET on the sidewalk in front of the Museum of Natural Science entrance closest to the Butterfly Center. (Near the statue of Sam Houston in the traffic circle.)
As we will be guests of Houston Orienteering Club, please respect the registration deadline so I can let them know how many maps to prepare for our group.
After the social-o, plan to for dinner, probably at Cafe Express.
