Bayou City Outdoors loves to hike! We have several hiking events throughout the month including Hiking Buffalo Bayou. Also, check out our backpacking trips in and around Houston and Texas. We also take several trips throughout the year to the Appalachian Trail, Colorado, and other amazing back country destinations.
We follow the Leave No Trace Rules! Make sure that you know them whenever you go play outdoors!

Places to Hike in and around Houston:
Huntsville State Park - About 7 miles south of Huntsville. A moderately easy day hike through the woods surrounding Lake Raven. Special attractions: Lake, lush forest, trail head at Nature Center. Click Here for Details
Memorial Park - This is an easy day in the heart of Houston. A 5-mile network of trails criss-cross the 155-acre center. The trails wind through a lush second growth forest of tall pines. Trail head off the Purple trail near the Soccer fields or park at the bike trails. Click Here for Details
Double Lake - Only 1 hour away from Houston and over 18 miles of new trails. A 5-mile hiking trail leads to Big Creek Scenic Area, and there is also access to the Lone Star Hiking Trail, which offers an opportunity to see the "back country" of East Texas. Click Here for Details
Lone Star Trail - This 129 mile National Recreation Trail meanders the breadth of the Sam Houston National Forest. There are many easy-to-find trail heads. Click Here for Details
Brazos Bend State Park - Brazos Bend State Park, approximately 28 miles southwest of Houston, covers roughly 5000 acres. Check map for various trail heads. Click Here for Details
Lake Houston - The Forest Trail, which does not feature much elevation change, is difficult due to its length: 8.82 mile loop. It starts at the parking lot. Click Here for Details

Lone Star Hiking Trail Club - A club that advocates for trails and educates the public about Texas Trails. Their main focus is the Lone Star Hiking Trail through the Piney Woods of East Texas. More information.
